What is the NorthStar score?
NorthStar is our 1–5★ composite, computed daily for 503 S&P stocks from six decomposed factors — momentum, value, quality, sentiment, macro-alignment and smart-money. Every sub-score and its inputs are visible, so it's never a black box.
Does CloviTrade execute trades or connect to my brokerage?
No. CloviTrade is research-and-decision only — it never touches your brokerage. Strategy bots are on the roadmap (paper trading first) and clearly labelled coming soon.
Where does the data come from?
From free, legally redistributable public government and regulatory data: official corporate filings (fundamentals, institutional holdings, insider transactions), 38 macroeconomic series, congressional disclosures, market prices and news. Mining the public-data goldmine others overlook is exactly why we can charge less than platforms passing on per-seat license fees.
What is the smart-money layer?
Three feeds of informed money — institutional holdings changes, insider transactions and congressional trades — matched per ticker, with a convergence flag when all three point the same way.
What does the AI Coach do?
It's a conversational layer over every score: ask why, ask what-if, ask what fits your risk profile, and get a plain-English answer grounded in the live factors, regime and signals. Research explanation — not personalized investment advice.

How fresh is the data, and how are disclosure lags handled?
Scores, prices, macro series and news refresh on a daily run. Smart-money signals carry a statutory reporting lag: congressional and institutional-holdings disclosures are filed with government and regulatory bodies weeks after the trades happen, so we label these signals with their disclosure lag rather than dressing them up as real-time. You always see how current a signal is.
